H&M/ Let’s talk about it

I must be honest, racism isn’t an easy subject to talk about, but as a “black” individual, it is a subject we MUST discuss! I will spare you the in-depth background regarding this latest incident of racism involving the clothing store, H&M. It is simple! H&M thought it would be a great marketing idea to…

Happy New Year/ Resolutions: Possible or Nah?

Happy New Year Chanels and Cocktails family. I pray everyone is in good spirit and in good health. So, let’s take a moment to talk about resolutions…Are we doing this or nah? In one of my previous posts, I stated that one of my New Year’s resolutions/( Life resolutions) is to continue to have improved…

Happy New Year Chanels and Cocktails family. I pray everyone is in good spirits and good health. So, let’s take a moment to take about resolutions…Are we making them this year or nah? In one of my previous posts I stated that one of my New Year’s resolutions/ Life resolutions is to continue to have more communications with my family and loved ones and to visit them more often. I have no problem with this type of resolution. This is normal human behavior and what is expected of a loved one. I think it is the somewhat unrealistic resolutions that give “resolutions” in general a bad name. Here are a few examples… So, you are 300 lbs., your New Year’s resolution is to lose 150 lbs.… Hmmm if this was a true desire or goal, why would an individual wait until January 1st to begin it? 9 times out of 10, it’s probably not going to happen. Sorry but I am being honest. Another person’s resolution may be to clean up his/her credit. How realistic is that? If having good credit was a true desire, it seems this would be something you would have been continuously working towards not something that just began January 1st. The long and short of it all is that typically “resolutions” aren’t successful because these are rush ideas of what you think you should do or how you think you should live based on society’s perceptions of what is acceptable, but they really have nothing to do with your heart or your true desires. I suggest instead of making all these pointless, disappointing resolutions, you should try fine tuning and molding the areas you have already began to work on. But don’t make any promises because if you are anything like me, I self-sabotage because my stubbornness naturally rejects obligations. My suggestion is that you work towards living a better life and being a better you in general for the remainder of your physical life. THE DON’TS: As I stated, don’t make any promises as to prevent any feelings of disappointment or feelings of inadequacy. Got it? You already know what to do and how to do it. Just take your time and focus on those things at your own pace and with no pressure from yourself or others. Yes, you will most likely get off track, but eventually the train comes back around, and you get back on. Just like that!!! It’s that simple!!! Lessons to live by: 1.) “Prepare yourself for the long-distance run” “A long-distance run will leave you sweaty, sore, and deeply satisfied. If you arm yourself with discipline and hard work, you will find that you’re able to push past what you thought you were capable of. However, working your way up to that long run is a challenging process that requires both mental and physical preparation Through careful planning, you will be prepared for this long-distance run.” 2.) Identify your goal, identify a plan, take small steps, and Finish Strong! Finally, 3.) “Live, Laugh, Relax, Eat, Pray, Breath! Try, Fail, Try, Fail, Try, Fail, Try again!

Louis Vuitton Girl/ My nephew loves designer wear!

From the moment I arrived at my eldest sister’s home for our Christmas gathering, my 8-year-old nephew was in complete admiration. When I walked into the house, he first noticed my bag, then he noticed my shoes. He said, “I think I know the name. It’s a rich brand. What is the name?” I replied,…

Facebook (Root of all Evil)

Let’s talk about the world of Facebook. I had to pull out my laptop to blog about this because it literally just happened— blogging is a coping strategy for me at times. Of course you all know I have this newly created blog, “Chanels and Cocktails.” I have been trying to promote my blog to…

OUR CULTURE (ACCUSER VS. ACCUSED)

I have been postponing this post because let’s face it, no one “likes” to discuss the socially unfitting topics. But when I woke this morning to learn Matt Lauer, host of the NBC television show ‘Today’, had been fired, I knew I had to blog about this. How much is too much? What is sexually…
